New York Tech's Office of Information Technology Services seeks a Manager for Online and Instructional Technologies to be located at the Long Island, NY (Old Westbury) campus.



Responsibilities
Working closely with faculty, the Manager for Online and Instructional Technologies provides operational, academic and strategic leadership in support of technology-mediated learning environments (e.g., flipped, blended, online, etc.). This includes, but is not limited to, the management and hands-on development of online/blended learning courses, oversight of academic technology services, and support for related teaching and learning initiatives. S/he will also collaboratively participate in the professional development and training of faculty in the appropriate use of University-supported instructional technologies such as the Learning Management System (LMS), web conferencing, lecture capture, digital asset production and management (images, video, audio), and presentation tools.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Support faculty members, applying best teaching practices in technology-enhanced traditional face-to-face, online, and blended courses. Partner with faculty in the transition of face-to-face courses to online and blended formats. Ensure team members are engaged and fulfilling their service and support responsibilities.
  • Serve as team lead in the design, delivery, management, and evaluation of faculty development activities; plan, implement and manage course and faculty development processes related to online/instructional technologies including faculty training, instructional design and course implementation; track course development process, monitor ongoing courses, and evaluate course delivery/quality assurance based on identified online quality standards and student success measures.
  • Supervisory experience with a minimum staff of 4 is required.
  • Provide hands-on management and oversight to course development process to ensure that curriculum development, instruction, and program assessments are conducted with academic integrity and rigor.
  • Collaborate with Director, deans, administration, faculty, staff and students to analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate pedagogical and technology solutions for that provide all students with seamless and user-friendly learning.
  • Apply current pedagogical and instructional design strategies as well as local, state and national trends in meet University learning goals, Section 508 compliance, and universal design practices in technology enhanced teaching/learning solutions; ensure compliance with institution, state, and national expectations and standards, including state standards for approved programs and standards for accreditation.
  • Conduct front-end analysis with faculty to determine academic project needs and coordinate personnel and equipment resources necessary to build and support appropriate solutions; provide guidance to faculty in the selection and use of technologies.
  • Design and develop exemplary resources for faculty, including but not limited to, self-help documents, online tutorials, and other interactive multimedia materials.
  • Collaborate with Director, IT staff, and other members of the Universitys management team to manage online-learning services.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and their application to curriculum design/delivery both face-to-face and online; make recommendations to adopt and implement solutions as appropriate.
  • Provide management, guidance and professional development to a team of academic technology and media service personnel to ensure placement of skills necessary to build a first-rate, customer-service driven operation; manage staff development, training and performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.




Qualifications
  • BS/BA degree in Instructional Technology or related field plus a minimum of five years experience developing and implementing professional development and technology training programs for faculty and students is required; preference will be given to candidates that have a Masters in Instructional Technology/Design or related field and/or 3 plus years of online teaching experience. Certification in Quality Matters (QM) and/or Online Learning (Sloan C) Consortium a plus. Experience in Higher Education preferred.
  • Demonstrated technical and pedagogical expertise with both physical and virtual learning environments; ability to design and produce effective learning environments, with and without technology; demonstrated expertise in building, implementing and measuring impactful academic technology support strategies across a range of disciplines.
  • Experience supporting faculty in the use of an enterprise-level, learning management systems (current system is Canvas), and other teaching and learning technologies
  • Extensive knowledge of the activities, processes, resources, and technologies involved in academic technology management and faculty support services.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; demonstrated ability to anticipate problems, regularly exercise independent judgment and respond quickly and appropriately to issues and opportunities as they arise, advising Director and others as needed.
  • Ability to show initiative and resolve problems independently and collaboratively; successfully manage multiple projects/priorities, follow through on projects/tasks to completion in a dynamic, fluid environment; and achieve successful outcomes with difficult situations and customers.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to communicate effectively, in person and in writing, with people at varying levels of computer literacy; the ability to establish collaborative working relationships at all levels of the University.
  • Team player with excellent consulting skills and a fun, but professional presence required.
  • Excellent customer service skills; and a high degree of integrity relative to computer security and confidentiality of information required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from a variety of diverse backgrounds in support of a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends on an as-needed basis.
  • Occasional travel to NYC and Vancouver campuses on an as-needed basis.
