OVERVIEW OF CCA

The Community College of Aurora (CCA) is a dynamic institution that is committed to serving its diverse student population through innovations in instruction and student support founded on principles of equity and inclusion. CCA is a public, two-year community college serving Aurora and east metro Denver and has been designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) by the U.S. Department of Education.

CCA enrolls 11,000 students annually, over 62% of whom are students of color, including nearly 32% Hispanic students. 65% of CCA students receive some type of financial aid, including 52% of whom receive Pell grants, and nearly two-thirds are first-generation college students. In addition to traditional degree and certificate programs, CCA offers non-credit professional development courses, customized training, and economic and workforce development resources to employer partners and individual professionals seeking to enhance the capacity and productivity of their workforce or individual knowledge and skills. The college centers our Inclusive Excellence work and applies an equity lens to everything we do, including working to erase equity gaps for students of color.

Position Summary:

The college is seeking a full-time, director to help the college design and implement engaging online and blended curriculum and pedagogy. This role will help develop hyflex, online and progressive academic programs throughout a number of academic areas. We're looking for a passionate, talented person who want to change the way the world thinks about and access higher education, and unlocks human potential regardless of circumstance. This position is funded for two years through the American Recovery Act with the possibility of extension.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

  • Lead the development and implementation of frameworks, guidelines and processes for the effective design and delivery of rigorous online and blended education opportunities
  • Participate in an on-going planning process that include specific objectives, activities, assessments, and time frames; and supports the institutional mission, Strategic Plan and the Academic Master Plan
  • Develop systems and processes for the gathering and analysis of feedback and data about the effectiveness of online and blended learning opportunities based on key quality metrics that relate to the college strategic goals and Academic Master Plan
  • Assist in the development of the distance and blended education budget
  • Supervise the internal instructional designers and work collaboratively with peers in instruction, technology, institutional research, and Student Affairs
  • Assist with the integration of Inclusive Excellence and student-centered principles and strategies in the design of online and blended education opportunities
  • Remain current with national developments in online and blended education technologies and principles
  • Ensure that the online and blended courses offered follow Colorado Community College System (CCCS) guidelines, effective design principles and learning theory, and support student success
  • Develop and facilitate training opportunities for instructional personnel, department chairs/directors, faculty and instructors
  • Participate in relevant CCCS and institution committees
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Minimum qualifications & Requirements
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, educational technology, or equivalent from a fully accredited college or university
  • 7-10+ years of experience working in instructional design of a variety of course modalities (online, blended, traditional, experiential, etc.)
  • Teaching experience in a community college or university
  • 5+ years of experience in hiring and supervising teams and working with faculty and instructors
  • Experience with multiple learning platforms and mediums for learning
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Demonstrated competency to work collaboratively and effectively with a variety of key stakeholders
  • Proven ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in problem-solving
  • Data-driven mindset and experience with use of data
  • Meticulous attention to detail and process-driven
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable and compelling in public speaking situations
  • Experience facilitating training sessions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, educational technology, or equivalent from a fully accredited college or university
  • Experience developing a new and effective online and blended learning team and strategy
  • Demonstrated experience with measure and report of online and blended instruction effectiveness
  • Demonstrated ability to perform relevant data analyses, draw key insights, and use data to form and execute a strategy


Supplemental information
Salary Range: Anticipated starting salary range is $65,000-$66,594 This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
