Director of Graduate, International, and Online Programs (Education Strategy and Planning Manager 3)

Penn State Dickinson Law, located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, invites applications for the position, Director of Graduate, International, and Online Programs expected to begin April 1, 2021. The Director will report to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and will provide leadership and vision in support of the law school's mission to prepare students to practice greatness. The Director will be responsible for leading and administering the following graduate and post-graduate degree programs: LL.M. (domestic and international), S.J.D. (domestic and international), and M.L.S. (tracks in Government Law & Policy, Organizing for Social Justice, and others). The Director will also be responsible for leading and administering the law school's student exchange and visiting scholar programs. The Director's administration of these programs will include:
  • admissions and recruitment
  • curricular development
  • immigration advising
  • academic advising
  • student services
  • career counseling responsibilities


The Director also will develop new programs, including non-degree certificates and credentialing programs as well as online and intensive learning modules. In addition, the Director will develop, lead, and manage the law school's international programs and partnerships.

Specific duties of this position also include, but are not limited to:
  • monitoring adherence to ABA standards and acquiescence for new, non-J.D. programs
  • program build-out, including curriculum, specialties, and degree and non-degree certificates
  • publishing and maintaining a student handbook for each program category
  • recruiting and admissions
  • developing online modules to facilitate program delivery
  • conducting marketing assessments for specific credentialing based on sound pedagogy and new curricular offerings
  • initiatives, and programs
  • developing strategic partnerships and aligned international institutions
  • providing counseling and mentorship, including career planning for international and/or Non-J.D. students
  • providing academic and acculturation supports for international and/or Non-J.D. students
  • coordinating faculty and staff pedagogy to align with best practice teaching and learning methods for international and/or Non-J.D. students


Typical requirements of this position are a Master's degree or higher plus five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and admission to a state bar with three or more years' experience with graduate or law school curriculum development and assessment; two or more years of experience in international student recruitment, admissions, and support; and fluency with ABA standards.

We are seeking an individual with a proven track record in academic, professional, and personal counseling of international students or non-J.D. students. Demonstrated ability to work well with a diverse population; ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries; ability and willingness to adjust to changing priorities on very short notice as well as the ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines; and ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment and discretion in this role.
