Assistant Director - Online & Hybrid Programs

About the Opportunity:
Reporting to the Director of Online and Hybrid Programs, this position is responsible for coordinating online and hybrid programs at the School of Law. This includes managing the admissions process, advising and supporting students, managing faculty contracts, and maintaining strong working relationships with university partners to foster the growth of the existing Master of Legal Studies program, online LLM program, and launching and building other online degrees, as assigned (to include degrees and certificate programs).

Responsibilities:

Coordination
-Coordinate the overall day-to-day operations of assigned programs, including answering phone calls, responding to email inquiries, making referrals to appropriate offices or people, and maintaining records, passwords, data management, and statistical reporting.

-Act as liaison between various university departments and third-party partners.

-Coordinate with Northeastern departments to provide career services to students through webinars, podcasts, workshops, and individual counseling. Monitor and summarize all student course surveys and faculty surveys.

-Prepare course reports for faculty providing feedback and suggestions on improving online course delivery.

-Assist faculty with course updates and ongoing functionality in the LMS; this could include adding course materials, updating syllabus on LMS, and first-line troubleshooting of minor LMS issues.

Distance Education -Project Management
-Faculty contract management and faculty support: Coordinate teaching and course development contracts with NUSL's HR. initial point-of-contact for faculty.

-Oversee online programs' relationship with university departments and third-party vendors, working with partners to facilitate admissions, registration, course enrollments, and notifying students and various offices accordingly.

-Acts as primary contact for student affairs issues such as academic probation, ADA requests, code of conduct issues, leaves of absence, transfer requests, course withdrawal requests, and exceptions to academic requirements, etc.

-Plan and provide logistical support for faculty training sessions.

Program Administration
-Coordinate with internal and external resources to ensure that technical support is provided to instructors and students

-Audit all courses prior to term start to ensure syllabi and required course materials have been posted; email materials to students as needed.

-Draft newsletter for online programs on a schedule to be determined by the Director of Online and Hybrid Programs).

-Provide direct academic support to online students, including, for example, advice on curricular pathways, graduation requirements, transfer credits.

-Identify, create, and implement innovative student retention initiatives. Engage with at-risk students and refer them to lead instructors and facilitators

-Create, maintain, and update online resource hub for students.

-Review policies and procedures for each program annually.

-Design and implement new student orientation.

-Primary contact for faculty grade entry; coordinate with Registrar to finalize course grades

-Administer and summarize course evaluations.

-Review and act upon student applications

-Primary point of contact for all sponsored accounts for faculty, staff, and third-party partners.

-Assist the Director of Online and Hybrid Programs and the School of Law's senior leadership on strategic initiatives, strategic planning and overall program design and development.

Qualifications:
-BA/BS degree with 3-6 years of relevant experience; or the equivalent.

-Must be proactive in assessing and implementing programmatic needs, able to keep multiple priorities, and manage multiple tasks.

-Excellent diplomacy skills and the ability to converse easily, with courtesy and clarity, with all members of the Northeastern community and beyond.

-Exceptional collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and groups to plan, implement, and support complex institutional endeavors.


Preferred Qualifications:

-Master's degree in Education Administration, Business Administration, JD, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-At least one position in an institution of higher learning involving substantial management or delivery of instruction.
-Microsoft Office Suite and Canvas
